As a Community Liaison, you will work with local youth serving organizations, natural supports and schools to create awareness of the services and programs offered by the Youth Employment Centre to recruit new clients to access the services of the Youth Employment Centre. You will work collaboratively with national and local employers to encourage the hiring and retention of youth in their workforce by creating partnerships with these employers to provide Youth Employment Centre clients with the opportunity to successfully transition in the workforce. Primary duties include:

  • Initiate, develop and maintain partnerships with employers for the purpose of providing employment opportunities for youth.
  • Promote career exploration activities with employers including informational interviews and networking opportunities, connecting youth to those opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of the Calgary labour market, employment trends, seasonal requirements, future requirements, and current and upcoming labour market programs.
  • Ensure that the Youth Employment Centre maintains a strong social media presence using various social media platforms that engage youth customers.
  • Plan, organize, and implement onsite hiring events and the annual Hiring Fair which attracts 80 employers and 5,000 youth.
  • Recruit youth candidates for specific employment opportunities with employer partners.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2-year diploma in a Social Science field such as Social Work, Human Services, Recreation, Disability Studies, Human Resources or a related field and at least 4 years of experience in community and/or employer relations; OR
  • A degree in a Social Science field such as Social Work, Human Services, Recreation, Disability Studies, Human Resources or a related field and at least 2 years of experience in community and/or employer relations.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending and use of personal vehicle for business is required.
  • An understanding of vulnerable youth and their needs is required.
  • An understanding of the career planning process and work search strategies would be considered assets.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Calgary labour markets is also considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, interpersonal, customer service and relationship building/ management skills.
  • Ability to be proactive and a high degree of initiative are required.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Workstyle

  • This position works full time from the office, with no remote work options available.

**Compensation:**Pay Grade 9 $41.49 - 55.51 per hour

**Hours of work:**Standard 35 hour work week

**Days of Work:**This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
