DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an integral member of the Radiation Therapy Leadership Team, the Supervisor, Radiation Therapy is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient planning/delivery of radiation therapy as prescribed. The Supervisor, Radiation Therapy will supervise, coordinate and evaluate patient care, departmental processes, patient care and staffing activities within Radiation Therapy. Job duties include ensuring the development and maintenance of protocols, procedures, and policies which enhance and improve safe, timely and efficient radiation therapy planning/delivery; evaluating and monitoring departmental processes and making recommendations for change where appropriate; acting as a resource for complex cases and problem set-ups; assessing patient-related problems and deciding on appropriate course of action; assisting the Manager in investigating and resolving complaints and making recommendations for the future; communicating decisions, events and changes to staff; leading, facilitating and participating in program-wide committees as needed; conducting interviews in conjunction with Manager as part of staff selection process; staffing for radiation therapy; working with Clinical Practice Leader to ensure the successful integration of new application, technology, clinical protocols and new research studies into clinical practice; participating in clinical research for development and implementation of new treatment techniques; participating in the development and execution of quality assurance procedures; maintaining full clinical competency through attending continuing education programs; participating in presentations given by the radiation program; acting on behalf of Manager, in his/her absence, as assigned; and performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MRT(T).Graduate of a recognized Radiation Therapy training program;

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a recognized university;

  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO);

  • Membership of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT);

  • Current CPR registration;

  • Significant recent clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist;

  • Previous supervisory experience in Radiation Therapy, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Proven experience in change management;

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to maintain performance under pressure;

  • Proven initiative, problem solving skills and adaptability;

  • Verified communication, leadership and interpersonal skills;

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development;

  • Must have a strong performance record;

  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and

  • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
