About the role

Aspen Custom Trailers is seeking a Buyer 2 to join our dynamic team. As North America’s premier supplier of heavy haul transportation equipment, we thrive on tackling the toughest design and manufacturing challenges. We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for process improvement and managing small procurement projects to contribute to our growing business.

The Buyer 2 will play a key role in optimizing purchasing processes, managing small-scale procurement projects, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials, equipment, and stock.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance purchasing procedures and workflows and collaborate with stakeholders to implement improvements.
  • Small Procurement Projects: Manage small-scale procurement initiatives, including sourcing, negotiating, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Communicate with qualified suppliers to obtain current pricing information, quotations, and bids.
  • Review requests for accuracy and verify availability of materials, equipment, and stock from current inventories.
  • Source and obtain price quotations from catalogues, suppliers, and prepare purchase orders.
  • Process purchases within authority and ensure compliance with material requirements.
  • Resolve supply chain issues, including shortages, missed deliveries, and other challenges, using creative problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain purchasing files, reports, and price lists in Visual10.

  • Problem-solving skills in a customer-focused environment.
  • Creativity in resolving supply chain challenges and adapting to unplanned changes.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Excel, Windows, Visio, Outlook) and ERP systems – Visual10.
  • Bonus: If you can read and understand engineered drawings.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Qualifications

  • 3-4+ years of purchasing experience in service or manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or PMAC Level II certification an asset.
  • Familiarity with ERP or database systems
  • Experience with Visual Manufacturing from Infor is an asset.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and accounting processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse personality types and levels of urgency.
  • Completion of courses in purchasing, production, and inventory management or equivalent work experience.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed indoors in a regulated environment.
  • Regular fast-paced work with tight deadlines.

Shift Availability

  • Monday to Friday – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (in-office).
  • Flexibility to work longer hours when needed.
