We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst, Fundamental Equities to join our team!

Working under the direction of the Managing Directors, Fundamental Equities, the Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting the evaluation of potential investment opportunities across global equity markets and preparing analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment rationales and due diligence reviews.

Primary emphasis will be placed on supporting the fundamental strategy and direct relationship building, the Analyst will conduct in depth research to help identify investment opportunities in public markets. This position works within broad guidelines, policies and agreed methods to help structure decisions as well as demonstrates investment judgement in completing assignments and team interactions.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research and analysis on a broad range of topics to support investment decision-making across the Fundamental Equity asset class.
  • Assisting the Fundamental Equities team in the due diligence process and preparation of investment reports and presentation materials.
  • Working directly with investment professionals in the Fundamental Equity group supporting the evaluation of potential company investments. Analyze industry trends, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic factors.
  • Applying investment and Fundamental Equities specific knowledge to build and analyze financial models and perform valuation analysis, including merger models, DCF models, and comparable company analysis; applying financial analysis and judgment to support investment decisions.
  • Participating in meetings with management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of departmental applications, including report creation, systems review and implementations.
  • Collaborating with Finance, Investment Operations & Accounting, and other Investment professionals, on issues related to financial accounting and reporting of IMCO’s Public Equities investments.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business or a related field is required. A graduate degree (e.g., MBA) and/or a professional designation (e.g. CPA, CFA) would be considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, asset management, or a related field.
  • Quantitative, analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving and researching skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret economic news and market conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and cultivate key partnerships to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
