Company Description Laxton Glass LLP is a Toronto-based law firm that has focused on insurance-related claims and disputes since 1964. We are a busy, growing insurance litigation firm with an active practice in all insurance related matters and, in particular, personal injury (defence), statutory accident benefits (including priority and loss transfer disputes), professional liability, coverage and property losses. The firm prides itself not only on client service, but on mentorship for newer associates. Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid role for an Associate Lawyer (0–5 years of experience) based in Toronto, ON. The Associate will assist in managing insurance-related files, including researching legal issues, correspondence, opinions, pleadings and settlement documents, and preparing materials for written hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Day-to-day work includes reviewing evidence and insurance coverage documents, analyzing liability and damages, and communicating with clients and opposing counsel. The Associate is expected to maintain organized files, meet deadlines, and uphold the firm’s standards of professionalism and client service. Qualifications Licensed to practice law in Ontario (good standing with the Law Society of Ontario), with 0–5 years of post-call experience in litigation, insurance law, or related practice areas. Strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and insurance policies. Experience or interest in advocacy, including attending motions, discoveries, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, and presenting arguments effectively. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to handle multiple files, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-centered approach and professional demeanor in all interactions.
