About the role
Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics, the Import Agent is responsible for providing accurate documentation for inbound and outbound shipments and following up on all issues related to shipments.
Key Accountabilities
- Validate all commercial invoices and packing lists against purchase orders (PO’s) and shipping arrangements in order to make an inbound delivery/shipment accordingly;
- Calculate and validate all the carton weight and volume;
- Validate key shipment information in order to get correct shipment routes and costs;
- Verify all the applicable special certificates from vendors for customs clearance and product compliance;
- Follow up with customs brokers to send all the shipping data via EDI and shipping documents via FTP exchange;
- Deal with vendors, carriers, freight forwarders and transportation companies to ensure shipments move in an efficient way;
- Coordinate with Inbound Logistics team to provide planning delivery dates to Forecast team;
- Trouble shoot any container movement issues and follow up with different carriers for solution; and
- Complete inbound and shipment documents in a timely manner for both import and direct sourcing shipments.
Job Requirements
- College Diploma (AEC) in Transportation, Logistics or in a similar field;
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an import/export or logistics role;
- Good analytical skills combined with a keen attention to detail;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume;
- Knowledge of MS Office is required with proven Excel ability; and
- Knowledge of SAP, an asset.
