About the role

#####Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Environmental Services Worker/Food Service Worker to fill a position at the Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre.

Environmental Services Worker: In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs a variety of environmental services duties throughout the facility. Maintains clean and disinfected conditions in areas such as patient/resident/client rooms, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory, Labour and Delivery Rooms, washrooms, corridors, hallways, lounges, offices, and common areas used by staff, visitors and patients/residents/clients as established in Northern Health Regional Environmental Services Policies and Processes.

Food Services Worker II: In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and working within the scope of Northern Health (NH) Regional Policies and Processes, the NH Regional Food Safety Plan and the NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position assists the Cooks, blending, grinding, slicing, preparing salads, vegetables, sandwiches, and portioning desserts, measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients. Sets up and portions, with accuracy, patient trays and / or resident meals including therapeutic diet items according to nutrition care plans. Check patient trays to ensure accuracy. Prepares items such as tea, coffee and toast. Washes dishes, pots, pans, utensils and performs general cleaning. Serves staff meals and oversees the collection and receipt of cash for items purchased which may include punching meal tickets.

**Shift Rotation/Hours of work:**Days, Evenings - 16:00 to 22:30, 09:30 to 18:00, 07:00 to 15:30, Rotating

#####Qualifications

Environmental Services Worker:

  • Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to deal with others effectively.

  • Ability to organize work.

  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Food Services Worker II

  • Grade 10 with one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to deal with others effectively.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

  • Ability to organize work.

  • Ability to operate related equipment.
