About the role

About The Role The Project Mechanical Engineer is mandated to perform engineering projects and products from design to development and lead the execution, including plant and machinery start up. Project engineer is responsible for the design and improvement of processes to increase plant production efficiency and quality.

The project engineer will be required to travel to other company facilities to assist operation teams with any plant startups, equipment installation, operator training, factory acceptance tests and other engineering tasks.

Essential Job Functions

  • Research and provide engineering solutions that can be developed into feasible projects, manage, validate, maintain and improve efficiency for current manufacturing, equipment, tools and process.
  • Evaluate and review machinery problems as well as conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures or downtime.
  • Manage, assist, coach and train the maintenance team. Provide guidance for preventive and repair maintenance to ensure that the plant operations are able to meet output quotas and deadlines.
  • create and manage CAPEX projects for company facilities as required
  • Develop the design of new equipment or modify existing equipment.

Strong knowledge of 3D /2D SolidWorks and CAD drawings and make sure all facilities layout design is updated and collaborate with other team member to make the new drawings.

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities in the plant.
  • Collaborate, participate and may lead plan start up; include designing manufacturing layouts, coordinating equipment selections, interacting with contractors/suppliers and evaluating quotes and negotiating prices.
  • Ensure the measurement and monitoring of operational performance in comparison with performance key indicators and standards.
  • Travel to other company facilities to assist with plant startups, equipment installation, operator and mechanic. training, factory acceptance tests and other engineering tasks as required.
  • Identify best practices in continuous improvement throughout the organization and ensure their implementation.
  • Ensure the implementation of lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by immediate manager.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum 4 years prior experience in current or similar role Experience In a Manufacturing Environment Bilingual (French, English intermediate)

  • Effective Communication in Multinational Teams required 75% of daily activities
  • The engineer will need to collaborate on a daily basis seamlessly with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders from the US and Western Canada, where English is the primary language. Clear communication ensures project accuracy, reduces misunderstandings, and fosters teamwork.
  • The engineer will interact directly on a daily basis with clients, vendors, or partners who communicate exclusively in English. Strong language skills facilitate professional and effective interactions, building trust and credibility.

TRavel up to 20%

  • The engineer will travel frequently to sites in the US and Western Canada. Fluency in English is crucial for navigating these environments, engaging with local teams, and ensuring safety and operational excellence.
