The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a BIM modeller or Structural Engineering Technician to join our Buildings Structures group, based in Ottawa or Halifax. Our Structural team is directly involved with a multitude of different project types, ranging from traditional commercial, residential & industrial buildings, through to specialty buildings in the Rail and Transportation and Energy and Resource sectors.

Responsibilities include:
-
Develop and prepare structural engineering drawings, plans, diagrams and layouts from sketches in the areas of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and timber for a variety of clients;
-
Revit modelling and drawing;
-
AutoCAD drawing preparation;
-
Conduct quality control checks of design drawings;
-
Ability to conduct site visits for review of structural work is an asset;
-
Ability to carry out contract administration during construction is an asset;
-
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
-
Graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology program with relevant experience, 2 to 5 years experience;
-
Working knowledge of Revit required and a strong proficiency is an asset;
-
AutoCAD proficiency is an asset;
-
Meticulous attention to detail essential;
-
Working knowledge of Word and Excel;
-
Strong mathematical skills;
-
Exposure to a construction environment would be considered an asset;
-
Exposure to Structural design would be an asset;
-
Ability to multi-task in a multidisciplinary environment;
-
Exceptional organizational, prioritizing and time management skills;
-
Willingness to work overtime when required;
-
Ability to work individually and as part of a team;
-
Good oral and written communication abilities essential, bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance. This is a mandatory requirement to work with this client.
