Position Title: Registered Nurse Consultant (RNC)
Status: Full-time Support
Hours: 35 hours
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness

Salary: Payband J
Salary Range: (Min $42.56 – Max $49.34)
Starting Salary: $42.56
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
What you will do:
Under the direction of the Humber Child Development Centre Director, and Manager of Humber’s Every Child Belongs (ECB) Unit, the Registered Nurse Consultant (RNC) will consult, serve as a resource, provide training and exchange knowledge within the City of Toronto’s ECB Model. The RNC will work closely with a team of Resource Consultants (RCs), as well as external supervisors, educators, child care professionals, and home childcare providers. The RNC will demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and inclusion as a foundation of the effective integration of the RNC role into the Early Learning and Care Community. The RNC will provide health promotion, information and education to help build the capacity of various community partners and stakeholders – including preservice practicum students. The RNC will respond to the care of children with complex medical needs who are part of a child care environment by supporting educators and families. The RNC will network closely with professionals from external agencies and provide guidance on how to comply with best practice standards, requirements, and regulations outlined by, but not limited to, Toronto Public Health; Child Care Early Years Act; ECB Specialized Consultants, Toronto Public Health Nurses, and the Local Health Integration Network.
What you bring to the role:
Education

The successful candidate will possess a 4-year degree or equivalent in Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing.

As well as a Current First Aid and CPR (HCP) certification and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Experience & Skills
- The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in a related field.
- The candidate will have experience working in a practice environment with focus on one or more of the following: maternal care, pediatric primary care; pediatric mental health; diabetes education; pediatric neurology; special needs care; community and public health; child care and education.
- The candidate will have excellent numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail.
- The candidate will have strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- The candidate will have an ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences – including children, families, educators, and other professionals.
- The candidate will have an excellent ability to manage time and meet deadlines while working within a team and independently.
- The candidate will have precise organization and multitasking skills.
- The candidate will have exemplary written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build capacity among different professionals and community partners.
- The candidate will be knowledgeable about the external agencies and services provided by the City of Toronto to the early years sector.
- The candidate will have effective and efficient computer and research skills.
- The candidate will be a team player with a strong ability to collaborate with numerous community stakeholders.
