Housing Support Worker – Part Time

Hamilton, ON- Wentworth Program

Compensation: $21.25-$25.55

Position Description: As the Housing Support Worker, you will promote housing stability for marginalized individuals, supporting their health, wellness, and community belonging. Promoting and demonstrating the vision, mission, and values of Indwell within the workplace and community.

Hours of Work: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Program operates 24/7. Shift times are 7AM-3PM, 11AM-7PM and 3PM-11PM. Primarily working weekends & Public Holidays with flexibility on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays. Some weekday flexibility and ability to provide coverage for overnight shifts 11PM-7AM.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Supporting individuals with life activities of daily living
  • Household duties: cooking and cleaning, other duties as assigned
  • Administering medication, recording daily shift notes
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe environment
  • Reinforcing residents’ life skills, spirituality, and social and community skills
  • Working as part of a team supporting individuals living in the residential care facility

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Minimum High School diploma. Priority given to those with post-secondary education in the social sciences and/or residential experience; current students encouraged to apply
  • Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost
  • TB Test required at one’s own cost
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell
  • A warm, sensitive, and caring approach
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting people living with mental illness
  • Work independently, have strong problem-solving skills, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
