Job Summary

Rakuten Rewards is seeking a data-driven Product Analyst to deliver actionable insights that enhance the experience for both consumers and merchant partners. In this high-impact role, you will partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to evaluate product performance, design experiments, and identify opportunities for optimization. You will leverage large-scale data to inform decision-making, prioritize initiatives, and drive measurable business impact. This role offers strong visibility and the opportunity to influence core product strategy through experimentation and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical frameworks to monitor product and campaign performance across consumer and merchant segments.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and large-scale experiments to drive product improvements.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to identify opportunities, estimate impact, and prioritize initiatives.
  • Build scalable reporting and dashboards using SQL and BI tools to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to explain performance trends and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on available data sets and tools to enhance product experience.
  • Monitor data quality and integrity within reporting systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Present insights confidently to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure statistical rigor in test design, measurement, and performance analysis.
  • Maintain documentation of analytical methodologies and reporting standards.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve experimentation and analytics processes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong SQL skills with experience working in large-scale or Big Data environments.
  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and experimentation frameworks.
  • Proficiency in statistical methods for hypothesis testing and performance measurement.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools (Tableau preferred).
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into clear, business-focused insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Adobe Target, SiteSpect) preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Product or Business Analyst, preferably in retail or e-commerce.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field required.
  • Experience in digital product analytics and experimentation environments preferred.

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the Compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus) for this role to be within the range shown below. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for stock options, health, vision, dental insurance, RRSP matching, Personal Time Off (PTO), Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
