Preschool Recreational Program Leader
About the role
Westside is currently recruiting for Preschool Recreation Program Leader to lead recreation programs, providing quality care in an engaging environment for children 1- 6 years of age. Job responsibilities include planning and execution of programs, active supervision and care.
Preschool Recreation Program Leader Responsibilities:
- To supervise, lead and guide recreation programs for children ages 1-6Y in group games, songs, art and creation, musical activities, beginner sport skills, physical literacy, dance and creative movement, swimming and more.
- To provide a safe, fun and quality experience
- Develop and enhanced lesson planning
- Actively and enthusiastically co-participate in all aspects of the programs
- Set Up/Take Down and general cleaning/maintenance of program equipment (including lifting up to 40 lbs.)
- Administrative duties as required
- Day to day risk management
- Group management and behavior guidance
- Communicate any relevant information, experiences, incidents and concerns with parents
Skills Required:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to work within a mixed-age group setting
- Customer service skills
- Communication and problem-solving skills
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, all candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must be available for daytime shifts during program hours, typical hours are between 8:15am- 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Must have a valid Alberta Approved First Aid training agency- CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid.
- Successful applicant must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Search completed at their own cost
- All applicants must be a minimum 18 years of age
- Skills and abilities (i.e. skating, climbing) are considered an asset
Experience and Qualifications:
- 2+ years previous experience working with children in a recreation setting or equivalent
- Relevant certifications such as NCCP/High 5 are considered an asset
- Education, experience and certifications in physical literacy and fundamental movement skills are considered an asset
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) level 1 or higher considered an asset
