The Opportunity

Finance and Corporate Services Division of the Ministry is seeking an individual with superior problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills for the position of Supervisor, Financial Planning & Systems.

Reporting to the Manager, Housing Finance, the Supervisor will lead a group in:

  • Preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC);
  • Developing and implementing financial system related policies and procedures;
  • Leading the administration of bank accounts for SHC and related Housing Authorities;
  • Be part of the team responsible for year-end financial reporting.

The Ideal Candidate

To meet the financial and accounting challenges in this dynamic environment the successful candidate will have:

  • Proven skills to analyze and accurately compile, compare, calculate, identify and summarize data to complete such tasks as preparing statistical reports, supporting documents, forecasts, budgets and trend analysis;
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting systems with the ability to analyze procedures and policies surrounding these systems;
  • Ability to assign work to others taking into consideration priorities, workloads, skills and the work that needs to be accomplished and objectively evaluate work performance;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on explaining financial, statistical, and administrative matters, policies, and procedures at a level appropriate to the audience;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize multiple tasks for the group, taking into consideration interruptions and changing priorities to meet strict deadlines;

Typically, the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are acquired through the successful completion of a degree in Commerce, Business Administration, supplemented with relevant work experience. A combination of education and progressive experience in Government financial management and experience with third-party funding will be considered an asset.
