Financial Analyst
We are looking for a highly motivated Financial Analyst to join our Finance Team and support a variety of core Finance functions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail oriented, proactive individual eager to develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in preparing accurate and timely monthly variable compensation calculations and payments for external advisors
- Maintain documentation around advisor compensation processes
- Investigate and resolve any commission-related issues or disputes
- Detect errors, omissions and inconsistencies in data
- Support development of business metrics and KPI’s
- Responsible for preparing journal entries and accruals ensuring accurate month end financial reporting
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, identify anomalies, investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial results
- Support external audits with required documentation
- Collaborate with team members within Finance and other business units
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives, continually challenging the status quo
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
- 2-5 years work experience, preferably in a financial/insurance environment
- Proficient in Excel, experience in Power BI an asset
- Strong analytical and inquiry skills to understand operational processes and constraints
- Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, and ability to multitask
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships within Finance and across the organization
- CPA designation (or working towards it) is an asset
