Scope:
TTM strives to invest in our team members at all levels-starting on your first day. To support the growth and development of new hires, this position is eligible for a 90 Day Evaluation that includes a pay increase if key performance indicators are met.
A Plating Operator is actively involved in various processes within the plating department to include etching, stripping and oxidizing PCB panels. Must maintain the work area in a safe environment while working with chemical processes and using high speed pressure equipment. Must meet or exceed output targets by understanding the product flow and handling procedures within the department. A Plating Operator will be exposed to hazardous waste while performing daily job duties. Operators will undergo WHMIS Chemical Handling training prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training.
Shift: Midnight (11:00pm - 7:15am)
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Duties:
- Operate wet process equipment for PCB panel processing through functions which include manual copper plating, solder plating, silver immersion, gold immersion, electroless copper, electrolytic gold, outer layer etching, organic coating, and hot air level processing.
- Set and maintain chemical processing equipment within operational parameters
- Cautiously load racks in plating tanks while ensuring proper temperature/current of baths
- Read blueprints and traveler documents to produce and move products according to customer specifications and to verify that all previous operations were completed
- Follow workflow dispatch as required while making allowances for schedule changes in response to Hot Jobs and customer requirements
- Immediately report any and all quality issues with panels and chemical baths to supervisor and/or Process Engineers
- Assist Process Engineers in running chemical process evaluations
- Perform preventative maintenance on all chemical machines
- Use all required Personal Protective Equipment
- Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately
- Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals

EHSS Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all EHSS policies and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), LOTO, Smoking, Noise Abatement, etc.
- Regularly inspect equipment for safety and environmental compliance.
- Report any unsafe conditions, near-misses, spills, leaks, incidents or injuries immediately.
- Support initiatives to minimize waste and reduce energy consumption in operations.
- Comply with local, provincial and federal regulations (e.g. waste disposal, emissions and waste usage)
- Ensure proper waste segregation (such as paper, plastic, gloves, filters, pops and cans, etc.), recycling and disposal in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Participate in the company’s EMP (environmental management programs) and waste reduction strategies, including reuse and recycling programs.
- Attend all EHSS training and keep up to date with EHSS laws and best practices.
- Participate in regular environmental audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams to ensure alignment with company-wide environmental goals and initiatives.
- Adhere to Security policies and programs, such as ID badges, sign-in and access control procedures.
- Participate in emergency drills and ensure familiarity with evacuation routes and procedures.
- Be aware of the “CLEAN” acronym used in the EMS policy
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Have a thorough knowledge of process chemistry
- Good hand/eye coordination
- Ability to lift 40lbs (18kg) without straining
- Ability to stand throughout entire shift
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Two years' experience in the Wet Process department preferable or related chemical environment.
