About the role

Position Overview We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic arts nonprofit. The successful candidate will lead efforts to promote our programs, position the Centre as a hub for artists, young creatives, and manage all internal and external communications. You will work closely with internal teams to amplify our mission and events while ensuring the smooth organization of digital assets.

Digital Marketing & Social Media

  • Develop & Manage Editorial Calendar: Create engaging, original, and curated content that highlights our programs, events, and celebrates Black artists across social media platforms.
  • Community Engagement: Respond to comments, messages, and foster active engagement on social platforms, ensuring we build strong relationships with our online audience.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with external partners and stakeholders to ensure delivery on strategic objectives, amplifying our voice through partnerships.
  • Analytics & Strategy: Track and analyze monthly performance data to measure the effectiveness of content and campaigns, and adjust strategies based on key insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Website Content Strategy: Improve website traffic, SEO, and overall user experience by executing a content strategy that reflects our mission and captivates visitors.

Strategic Communications & Media Relations

  • Content Creation: Write compelling, inspiring content for newsletters, blogs, and publications that tell the stories of our programs, artists, and community impact.
  • Communication Plans: Develop and implement communication strategies to promote events, projects, and initiatives, ensuring our messaging aligns with the brand and engages the right audiences.
  • Collaborate on Fundraising: Work with the fundraising team to create content that acknowledges donors, attracts new sponsors, and strengthens relationships with supporters.
  • Media Relations: Build and nurture reciprocal relationships with media contacts, securing press coverage and responding to inquiries with clear and thoughtful messaging.
  • Agency & PR Management: Coordinate with PR partners or agencies to enhance our media presence and manage public relations efforts as needed.

Branding, Design & Asset Management

  • Design Collateral: Create flyers, promotional materials, and visual content that aligns with our marketing objectives and adheres to brand guidelines.
  • Event Photography & Asset Management: Capture photos at events and maintain an organized photo bank, ensuring all assets are up to date for future use in campaigns and reports.
  • Website Management: Update and maintain the website to ensure it provides a seamless user experience and effectively communicates our impact.
  • Internal Organization: Keep internal drives and documents, including photos and reports, organized and accessible for the team. Maintain version control on all content and materials.
  • Testimonials & Impact Communication: Solicit and write testimonials from participants, partners, and donors to showcase the Centre’s impact on the community.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years in digital marketing, communications, or a related field, with a proven track record of creating engaging content and managing multi-platform campaigns.
  • Writing Skills: Excellent written communication skills with a talent for producing persuasive and compelling copy that resonates with diverse audiences, particularly Black communities.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with a focus on copyediting, visual consistency, and ensuring all content adheres to brand guidelines.
  • Project management: Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure the timely and successful completion of marketing initiatives.
  • Tools & Systems: Proficient with Content Management Systems (WordPress), G Suite, MailChimp, Canva, Asana and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience using social media management tools, like Later, is a plus.
  • Collaborative: A natural team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, escalating issues when necessary, and managing multiple overlapping deadlines.
  • Creativity & Storytelling: Passion for the arts and a deep understanding of content creation for Black audiences, with a focus on storytelling and cultural relevance.
  • Campaign Management & Data-Driven: Strong understanding of social advertising, campaign management, and how to use data analytics to guide decisions and optimize performance.
  • Solution-Oriented: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Curiosity & Growth: Eagerness to learn and engage in creative brainstorming, with a willingness to experiment and innovate.
  • Education: A degree in marketing, communications, or a combination of relevant education and work experience.
