DEPARTMENT
UNB Finance is a team of approximately 65 people who lead, direct, and develop strategic and operational planning for the university's finances. This unit reports to the Vice President Administration and Finance and serves the Board of Governors as well as the following Board Committees, Finance & Properties Committee, Audit Committee, and Investments Committee.

Salary Range:$71,576 - $97,550 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, the Manager of Accounts Payable and Disbursement Services is responsible for the effective planning & management of the Accounts Payable & Disbursement Services unit ensuring payments are processed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with university financial policies and government regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting the university's financial integrity and vendor relationships. Specifically, they will:
Lead a team of dedicated Accounts Payable staff, coordinating workloads to meet processing deadlines and support employee growth and development by setting clear goals, providing feedback and coaching.
Oversee vendor invoice processing, cheque/EFT payment runs, and expense claims processing and reporting.
Ensure proper tax treatment of payments including HST, withholding tax for non-residents, as well as the issuance of T4A's and reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency.
Prepare journal entries, oversee month end and year end close and support internal and external audits by providing documentation and reconciliations.
Maintain control of Accounts Payables & Disbursement Services records for retention and storage and for the effective management of the Faculty Relocation account.
Provide guidance and training for the university community on policies and systems relating to the payment of invoices and expense claims.
Monitor the use of the Payables & Disbursements module of Colleague Financials and recommend updates and adjustments to system security and access.
Maintain and administer changes and enhancements to Emburse Expense Management system, improving system functionality and user experience.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency by leveraging technology solutions.
WHAT YOU BRING
Undergraduate Degree in Business or a related field.
At least 8 years of related experience, in a mid-to-large environment, unionized environment, working with a computerized system with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths
Excellent knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines as they apply to T4A, taxable benefits & non resident tax.
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable processes, including the impact on the General Ledger, and the ability to analyze, identify, and correct posting errors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational, technical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to working under pressure of time constraints, and to meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy in detailed tasks.
Have a customer-focus attitude with the ability to provide clear explanations of decisions to employees in a respectful yet assertive manner.
Knowledge of latest versions of Microsoft Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook.
Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague and Emburse Expense Management would be an asset.
