The Town of East Gwillimbury is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, outgoing individuals with demonstrated leadership skills who are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding summer, within our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Hockey Instructor (Coach) will be responsible for teaching, leading and overseeing the hockey camps implemented for children and youth. The Hockey Instructor (Coach) also develops practice plans, gives feedback to the participants, and ensures they are providing an enjoyable, fun, exciting program for participants.
- Adapt program plans to ensure they are inclusive for all participants.
- Create program plans and leads participants through engaging drills throughout entirety of ice session.
- Supervises the behavior of participants in hallways and change rooms advising of rule infractions.
- Performs minor first aid treatment for participants and/or arranges for emergency professional medical assistance as required.
- Completes administrative tasks as assigned
- Responds to inquiries from parents, general public and program participants and resolves/refers them to the appropriate staff.
Position Requirements

1-2years of hockey coaching experience is considered an asset.

Prior supervisory experience within a recreational setting is considered an asset.

Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate required.

Vulnerable Sector Police Check required.

Valid National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)Certification or equivalent coaching certification required.

High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development (considered an asset)

Excellent ice-skating and instructing abilities.

Ability to design, lead and implement practice sessions based on age group.

Excellent customer service and leadership skills.
-
Ability to deal with difficult and confidential situations.
-
Excellent organizational skills and capable of dealing with multiple situations at once in a professional and courteous manner.
Hourly rate: $51.25
