Role Summary: Art Instructor (Young at Heart Artist) The Art Instructor leads painting sessions designed to spark happiness, confidence, and connection among seniors. You’ll guide residents step-by-step through a painting, help them enjoy the process, and bring energy to each session.

Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Program Delivery Lead 1–1.5 hour group painting sessions for 10–15 participants Provide clear, encouraging and fun step-by-step instruction. Adapt techniques to support seniors of all abilities (verbal cues, hand-over-hand, patience, etc). Create an engaging, social environment that fosters friendships and emotional well-being. Preparing and Closing Sessions Arrive early to set up paint, palettes, canvases, water cups, brushes, tablecloths, and supplies. Ensure the room is clean and tidy before leaving. Resident Engagement Offer one-on-one assistance to residents needing extra support. Encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Represent Young at Heart with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Collaboration & Communication Maintain consistent communication with the area manager. Report wins, feedback, or resident progress. Option to teach one of your own original paintings.

Qualifications 3+ years of painting experience (acrylic preferred). Outgoing, friendly, and comfortable engaging groups (this is essential). Reliable vehicle for travel across GTA & York Region. Experience working with seniors is a strong asset. Dependable, punctual, and self-directed.

Preferred Attributes Compassion and patience for seniors with varying cognitive/physical abilities. Enthusiasm and warmth-someone who lights up a room. Strong communication skills. Ability to bring joy, fun, and energy to every class.
