About the role

Are you drawn to providing compassionate care and supporting individuals through life's most challenging moments? Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Spiritual Care Professional to join our team. In this role, you'll provide compassionate listening, spiritual guidance, and meaningful support to patients, families, and staff facing illness, loss, and life transitions.

This opportunity is unique in providing Spiritual Care in a clinical setting, as it involves working in our Woman and Infants’ Health program, Oncology, ICU and GIM. Our organization received highest accolades in recent accreditation for interprofessional collaboration and patient centered care. At Mount Sinai Hospital, you will engage with a patient population of pregnant individuals, addressing their various health needs, care options, and social location.

Is this you?

You possess deep empathy, an ability to honour diverse belief systems, and a calling to serve others in their time of need. You are a skilled listener, offering a non-judgmental and safe space for individuals to explore their spiritual and emotional needs. You are skilled at facilitating meaning-making for others by inviting people to reflect on their values. You find fulfillment in facilitating connection, providing ritual support, and helping others navigate life's complexities with resilience and hope.

You embrace diversity as an essential component of spiritual care, actively seeking to understand and appreciate the vast spectrum of beliefs, values, and spiritual practices that individuals hold dear. You approach each encounter with an open mind and a willingness to learn, creating a space where all feel welcome and respected.

You have strong boundaries and self-care practices. This role involves being present with others during moments of pain, fear, or uncertainty. To navigate these situations of suffering and loss, you must possess and cultivate emotional resilience. The sensitive nature of this work will require you to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
