Who are we looking for? Our Transportation team is looking for an Engineering Graduate or Transportation Planner, seeking to launch their career in Highway Engineering, Bridge Engineering, and Project Management. The position can be located within our Whitb y, Markham, Mississauga , St. Catharines , or Waterloo offices.
Successful candidates will be invited to participate of an interview during our Hiring Day Event at our Waterloo Office in person. This role is a great opportunity for a new graduate from a Civil Engineering program or Planning , eager to learn and grow as a highway or bridge design engineer. The role will include a mix of design, engineering, and project management support ideal for a candidate looking to grow their career as a proficient highway engineer, and eventually a project manager.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Engineering Inspections & Field Reviews: Conduct inspections or site visits under supervision to assess infrastructure conditions, traffic operations, or engineering works, and recommend remedial actions as needed.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Independently collect and analyze data using preset tools and methods, including traffic volumes, safety metrics, and project performance indicators.
- Process & Design Support: Assist in the analysis and specification of methods, systems, and equipment to improve transportation or civil infrastructure, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Improvement & Innovation: Identify and address process or system inefficiencies, contributing to recommendations for safety, capacity, or operational improvements.
- Contract & Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with contract plans and project goals.
- Project Management Support: Contribute to project delivery by supporting proposal development, cost and schedule tracking, documentation, and client communications.
- Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare reports, contract documents, and technical content for clients, agencies, and public review.
- Standards & Specifications: Assist in drafting and evaluating engineering standards, specifications, and planning documentation, including contributions to transportation studies.
- Knowledge & Content Management: Support the use of knowledge systems and contribute to content creation for internal and external communications.
- Client & Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients, sub-consultants, and internal teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
- Professional Development: Continuously build capabilities through training, accreditation, and staying current with industry practices, regulations, and technologies.
What You Will Bring To The Team
- General Experience: Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months) is a plus.
- Managerial Experience: None
- Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering or planning.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for launching a career in transportation planning or engineering.
- Familiarity with analysis or design software such as Synchro, Aimsun, Vissim, Emme, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, would be an asset.
- Previous work experience in a planning, engineering or contracting environment would be an asset.
