The Opportunity

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), the national voice of Canada’s Ukrainian community, seeks a nationally respected and strategically minded executive to serve as Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer.

This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of public policy, national advocacy, and philanthropic growth. The successful candidate will lead a mission-driven organization representing one of Canada’s most engaged ethnocultural communities during a critical period of geopolitical importance.

The Executive Director & CEO will be responsible for strengthening UCC’s policy influence in Ottawa while building a sustainable, modern national fundraising engine to support long-term advocacy and community impact.

This role requires an executive who is equally comfortable in government relations and donor cultivation — a strategic leader who can operate at the Cabinet level while also building institutional capacity and revenue growth.

Strategic Priorities (First 3 Years)

  • Significantly grow and diversify national fundraising revenue
  • Strengthen UCC’s policy positioning and influence within the Government of Canada
  • Elevate UCC’s national profile as the leading Ukrainian Canadian advocacy organization
  • Enhance operational effectiveness across a distributed national structure
  • Support the work of the UCC National Foundation

Key Responsibilities

National Policy & Government Relations Leadership

  • Lead development and execution of UCC’s public policy strategy
  • Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson
  • Represent UCC in high-level meetings with federal officials, diplomats, and national stakeholders
  • Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy strategies
  • Coordinate advocacy efforts with volunteer leadership and provincial councils
  • Monitor federal policy developments and proactively position UCC within key files

National Fundraising & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a national fundraising strategy aligned with advocacy priorities
  • Build and steward major donor relationships across Canada
  • Expand revenue streams beyond traditional community sources
  • Oversee major gift cultivation, corporate sponsorships, grants, and digital campaigns
  • Ensure full compliance with CRA regulations and governance best practices
  • Provide strategic guidance to the UCC Charitable & Educational Trust and National Foundation
  • Organizational & Executive Leadership
  • Lead a team of 9 staff and 3–5 contractors within a ~$2M operating environment
  • Translate Board strategy into operational execution
  • Strengthen internal systems, performance accountability, and cross-functional coordination
  • Oversee program and project development and execution
  • Support and advise the Board of Directors and national committees
  • Ensure disciplined financial management and resource stewardship
  • Foster a high-performance, mission-driven organizational culture

## Compensation Competitive executive-level compensation commensurate with experience, including benefits.
