Schedule: Monday through Sunday, 5 to 6 Days per Week - 9 Hour Shifts

The CNE, often affectionately referred to as The Ex, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top ten agricultural fairs in North America, attracting approximately 1.6 million visitors annually over the course of its 18-day run. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Bar Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing high-volume bar operations during the 2026 CNE. This role ensures exceptional guest experiences through strong leadership, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and effective team management. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in fast-paced event environments and is passionate about delivering consistent service, maintaining quality standards, and driving operational efficiency.
Responsibilities of include but are not limited to:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day bar operations in a high-volume event environment
- Manage bar flow to ensure speed, efficiency, drink quality, and consistent beverage service
- Maintain service standards to deliver an excellent guest experience
- Provide hands-on support during peak periods, including floor coverage and break relief
- Ensure all sales are accurately captured through the POS system and oversee cash handling procedures
Inventory & Financial Controls
- Manage inventory of alcohol, mixers, and bar supplies
- Conduct inventory counts, monitor product usage, and support cost control to minimize waste and loss
- Coordinate timely restocking and ensure proper storage and handling of products
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise bartenders and bar support staff
- Manage staff scheduling and shift coverage during peak and overnight operations
- Provide training and coaching to ensure service standards and responsible alcohol service
- Foster a professional, positive, and team-oriented work environment
- Address staff performance issues as needed
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with AGCO regulations, Smart Serve standards, and health and safety requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bar environment
- Promote responsible alcohol service and monitor guest consumption
- Ensure adherence to company policies and event-specific protocols
Guest Experience
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere for guests
- Demonstrate strong hospitality leadership and lead by example on the floor
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and Labour Day – All 18 days of the fair
- Must be Smart Serve Certified
- Previous bartending experience preferred (high-volume experience is an asset)
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and standard drink recipes
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Friendly, outgoing personality with a positive attitude
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in both slow and fast-paced periods
- Comfortable working long shifts on your feet
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy rushes
- Proactive mindset - able to clean, prep, and restock during slower periods
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support coworkers
- Experience with cash handling, reconciliations, and POS systems
- Works effectively with minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned
Special Conditions
- Must be able to stand or remain in stationary position for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working in areas that contain bright lights, loud noises and crowds of people
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to engage in physical tasks, including safe lifting and moving heavy items
