Under the supervision of the field control engineer, the field control technician will be responsible for daily monitoring of work areas and responding to daily issues recorded in the field control log. Based at the Windfall site in northern Quebec, the technician will work an 8-day work schedule followed by 6 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections and task observations to ensure the quality of the field support installation;
- Write observation reports;
- Draw various plans related to the field control discipline (rehabilitation, cabling, shotcrete, etc.);
- Perform structural surveys;
- Participate in the planning, coordination, monitoring, and interpretation of geotechnical investigations;
- Conduct field campaigns and rock descriptions;
- Apply the field control program;
- Participate in the deployment of the underground project's seismic system;
- Work closely with the entire engineering team to ensure consistency between the various disciplines;
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards and implement corrective measures;
- Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations and laws;
- Perform any other duties related to the position that are relevant to the success of the project.
Qualifications required
- Hold a degree in mineral technology;
- Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining field, including 3 years in field control;
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;
- Hold a valid explosives license.
Technical skills
- Have knowledge of the various processes according to industry standards;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and specialized software such as AutoCAD and Rocscience;
- Knowledge of Deswik software (an asset);
- Have a good knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.
Basic skills
- Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety;
- Have an excellent command of French and knowledge of English;
- Be an excellent communicator;
- Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and political savvy;
- Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;
- Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;
- Possess good judgment, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning skills;
- Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
