The location in Cross City, (Florida, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Saw Filer. This job is full-time permanent.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for supporting and safely executing the saw filing activities for our lumber manufacturing facility.
  2. Responsible for inspecting, sharpening, and assisting in replacing large saws in the sawmill.
  3. Safely filling and maintaining band saws and circle saws, performing machine alignment, maintaining saw filing equipment, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  4. Inspect equipment for signs of wear/damage and recognize unsafe conditions.
  5. Able to maintain saw guides.
  6. Troubleshoot knife, circle saws, band saws, and guide problems.
  7. Sharpen, repair and maintain circular saws, band saws, and knives properly.
  8. Must be able to operate and understand precision measuring and grinding equipment.
  9. Ability to communicate respectfully with members of the production, shipping, and maintenance teams.
  10. Ability to adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  11. Perform other duties when assigned.
  12. This job is classified as a SAFETY SENSITIVE position.

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant experience working as a band saw filer
  • Ability to operate a variety of sharpening machines and hand tools
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug screen and background check.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling.
  • Ability to climb stairs and may be required to move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level is usually loud.
