De-Icer (Contract Full-Time / Contract Part-Time)

Primary Objective of the Position:
Under the general direction of the Supervisor and De-ice Coordinator, the successful applicants will be responsible to operate De-ice equipment, provide detailed reports and maintain on-time performance of flights.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary Responsibility will be the operation of De-ice trucks.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate all pertinent information to pilots, staff and coordinator clearly.
- Prepare, organize and maintain detailed spray reports, track fluid usage, including various fluid test and truck pre-trip information.
- Mechanical inclination, able to diagnose potential vehicle issues.
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Proactive planning for various weather conditions.
- Assist in training, and guiding bucket operators and other de-icers.
- End of season ramp sweeping.
- Remove and store of all salt and sodium bins and snow removal equipment.
- Maintenance of the De-ice area.
- Coverage for vacation for Fuel and De-Ice.
- Assist with De-Ice truck and GSE inspections and repairs.
- Any departmental maintenance projects, primarily non powered equipment repairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferable minimum 2 years’ experience in De/Anti-icing.
- Maintain or able to obtain AVOP.
- Ability to obtain Radio operator license.
- Excellent Problem-solving skills and the capability to see the cause and effect of decisions.
- Ability to drive large vehicles safely with minimal visibility in all weather conditions.
- Excellent punctuality, and attendance habits.
- Ability to work within a “team first” environment, and complete common goals within time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to learn quickly, and adapt to fast-changing customer requirements.
- Flexible to work shift work, weekends and stat holidays.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform other duties incidental to work described herein.
- Must pass a drug and alcohol test.
