At the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, our culture is a top priority. We measure employee engagement annually to ensure our staff have a positive and meaningful employment experience. Our most recent engagement score is 80%, compared to a Canadian employer average of 69%.

Founded in 1856, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario serves communities across the region with 200+ locations from Goderich to Point Pelee and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada, with over 100 school-age programs across Southwestern Ontario.

In addition to health and fitness programs, we provide:

  • Settlement services for newcomers
  • Employment and job readiness programs
  • Mental health supports
  • Youth development programs

We also operate two overnight camps—one in Point Pelee National Park and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka—along with 15 Health & Fitness branches across the region.

Why the YMCA?

At the YMCA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to building healthy communities and creating welcoming spaces for individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities.

We provide training and professional development opportunities to help our team members grow both personally and professionally.

  • YMCA Core Values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Inclusivity
  • A fun, enthusiastic, and friendly attitude
  • Dependability and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to be a positive role model

Employees and volunteers of the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario are ambassadors for the Y both on and off the job. Our team helps share our mission and increase awareness of the positive impact the YMCA has in local communities—supporting healthy children, healthy families, and healthy communities.

All employees and volunteers are required to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and some positions may require a Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment.

Police record checks are reviewed on an individual basis. Any offense(s), if present, are considered in relation to the responsibilities of the position and do not automatically disqualify candidates from employment.
