The Tools and Technology Team within Central Innovation is looking for accomplished people to help us fulfill our mission of providing creative tools and workflows that allow EA to lead the industry in content quality. Our group strives to build an ecosystem of modular components that are efficient, adjustable to trends, and allow for quick iteration of any artistic idea into reality. We partner with a global group of extraordinary creatives fueled by imagination and a unified passion for creating amazing content and experiences.

Technical Artists are the bridge between art and programming departments and have the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. They demonstrate technical proficiency in basic 3D concepts and have experience in both art and programming. As a Technical Artist, you will be an individual contributor on a central technical art team supporting the technical delivery of art tools across a distributed production environment.

Day to day you will ... :

  • Partner with peers on the Technical Art team and with the project Technical Art Director to support game and studio vision.
  • Collaborate with content creators using a service-minded attitude, looking to understand issues and requirements and offer support.
  • Assess, design, implement, and maintain art creation pipelines/workflows that meet artist needs and increase productivity for content creators.
  • Learn and familiarize yourself with multiple technologies, technical concepts, ideas, and problems.

You are/you have…

  • Strong knowledge of 3D art packages (Maya) and experience in scripting and programming (Python and C#).
  • Foundational experience with (and technical proficiency in) 3D concepts such as modelling, texturing, rendering, physically-based shading, lighting, and environments.
  • Basic familiarity with game engine workflows (i.e. Unity, Unreal), asset pipelines and profiling, and revision control systems.
  • Excited to learn and apply new concepts, principles, and solutions.

Bonus if you have…

  • Experience with UI development.
  • Experience using USD based workflows.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with Houdini

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$83,000 - $116,400 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
