Purpose of Role

The Corporate Electrical Engineering team is seeking an ambitious student to join our team for the summer of 2026 as part of our Gold Rush Summer Internship Program. This person will work on development projects currently in a study phase. Although the focus will be on electrical engineering, the individual may provide other engineering and project support services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review project documents (policies, standards, specifications, drawings, data sheets) related to electrical, instrumentation and control systems to assure they meet project and Kinross objectives.
  • Conduct task reviews to ensure alignment with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Assist the project team in performing trade-off studies by preparing financial models and prepare brief analysis reports.
  • Develop basic drawings, design concept sketches, and perform basic electrical design calculations.
  • Take the role of a coordinator to gather, and compile design review comments.
  • Assist in evaluation of energy efficiency opportunities and company’s greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reduction and Renewable Energy (RE) studies and projects.
  • Explore industry trends and perform market research for latest technology on electrical and control products and guide engineers on opportunities to add value, improve productivity and safety.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Executive management under guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules, budgets, and technical reports.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Third year university student in a four-year Electrical Engineering program.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of large multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft office suite: Words, Excel, and Power point). Knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD, and power system modeling software will be an asset.

Skills

  • Must have lodging in Toronto or the GTA.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Team player with an ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
