Production Manager Location: Shelburne, ON Schedule: Monday to Friday | 6:30 AM Start
We're seeking an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established manufacturing organization. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you'll oversee daily production operations, lead a unionized workforce, and play a key role in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee development.
Key Responsibilities Production & Operations Oversee daily production operations, including manufacturing, shipping, receiving, maintenance, and quality control. Partner with the Plant Manager on production planning and daily operational activities. Review and approve production schedules while collaborating with procurement and planning teams. Analyze production data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles. Process production transactions within the ERP system. Participate in inventory management, including cycle counts and annual physical inventories. Monitor production quality to ensure customer and company standards are consistently achieved. Work cross-functionally to improve efficiencies, optimize inventory, and maximize operational performance. Support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. Leadership & Workforce Management Lead and support approximately 50 employees across multiple shifts within a unionized manufacturing environment, along with seasonal staff during peak periods. Coordinate staffing requirements and production schedules with frontline supervisors. Manage employee attendance, scheduling, performance, coaching, discipline, and development. Process payroll-related transactions and manage vacation scheduling. Ensure company policies, procedures, and collective agreement requirements are consistently followed. Build strong working relationships with employees, union representatives, and external regulatory agencies as required. Health, Safety & Compliance Foster a strong culture of safety and accountability throughout the facility. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental standards, and company policies. Deliver safety training and reinforce safe work practices. Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee initiatives. Assist with workplace incident investigations and required documentation.
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of production management experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience leading teams in a unionized workplace. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational best practices. Mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of manufacturing equipment and maintenance operations. Confident leader with excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop diverse teams. Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to operational issues as needed. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Experience with SAP is considered an asset.
