The Ministry of Government Relations, Northern Municipal Services branch, is seeking a highly motivated, conscientious, innovative, and strategic leader to be the Manager, Financial Operations, in administering the Northern Municipal Trust Account (NMTA). You will use strong communication skills to provide advice on all aspects of financial planning, management, reporting, controls, and analysis. You will be a key player in the development of NMTA's strategic plan, budget development, and accountability processes. Leading a team of financial personnel, you will develop and monitor financial plans and services, provide direction on acceptable internal control policies and procedures to protect and safeguard the assets of the Ministry. You will assist in financial forecasting and financial reporting for the NMTA. You will assist in leading the day-to-day financial operations of the NMTA, including property tax services, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and capital infrastructure planning and tracking.
The successful candidate will require knowledge of government, financial, budgetary, and legislative processes and policies, be results-oriented, and be able to plan the work for the unit. Using strong conceptual and collaborative problem-solving and relationship building skills, you will facilitate and negotiate solutions to complex issues among a diverse range of individuals. The position demands the knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for the Public Sector and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
To qualify for this position, the successful candidate will typically possess a professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent combination of education and experience as a financial and operations manager.
