As a Senior Master Indemnification Technician, you are responsible for coordinating and administering the Indemnification Agreements. This agreement oversees contract work related to offsite service connection on City developments. You will manage the pre-approved contractor list, prepare Indemnification Agreements, and resolve issues with contractors, developers, other City Business Units, and the public regarding the completion of work. This position also coordinates the Construction Completion Certificate (CCC)/Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC) process. Primary duties include:

  • Prepare Indemnifications Agreements, addendums, and inspection fee schedule. Resolve issues impacting proposed work with relevant City Departments and prepare agreements including scope of work and administration/inspection fee schedule.
  • Answer questions and resolve issues related to new service connections, new main extensions, and the killing of existing services in City Right of Way.
  • Review all as built subdivision plans submitted by consulting engineers.
  • Coordinate the Construction Completion Certificate/Final Acceptance Certificate process. Issue CCC/FAC certificates and update records once approved.
  • Manage the pre-approved contractor list. Monitor and manage contractor performance.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2-year diploma in an Engineering discipline and at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction procedures and practices, water and wastewater construction specifications, survey and drafting.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the Development Approvals Process, Subdivision design guidelines, stormwater management and design guidelines, and guidelines for Development Site Services Plan & Development Permit.
  • Membership in the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) would be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated consulting and negotiation skills and the ability to influence to build consensus.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with sound judgement and proven decision-making skills.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
