Reporting to the Team Lead, Structural & Transmission Project Engineering, the Structural & Transmission Project Engineer is responsible for delivering engineering solutions across ENMAX’s distribution, substation, transmission, and network projects. This role supports projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction support, and closeout. You’ll produce and review key engineering deliverables—including assessments, calculations, designs, and record documentation—while working closely with internal teams and external partners. This is an opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys technical problem solving, cross functional collaboration, and contributing to infrastructure that supports our communities.
Major Responsibilities:

Work with internal and external customers and technical experts to determine the complete project scope including identifying all required technical deliverables, interdependencies, and any risks that are technical in nature.

Plan and produce detailed designs for new construction, additions, modifications, maintenance and changes to EPC Network, Distribution, and Transmission infrastructure, including quantity take-offs and Inspection and Test Plans

Act as the main point of contact for contracted engineering resources for specific projects and provide support where required. Oversee the scope and quality of engineering deliverables provided by external engineering consultants to meet the needs of the project.

Ensure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes, regulations and public safety are applied in designs.

Coordinate all design reviews between consultants, EPC Engineering, and EPC Field Execution Planning, and ensure final deliverables reflect input from all stakeholders.

Review construction Requests for Information and consult with required parties and provide responses in the form of Field Instructions, and via direct construction support on site as required.

Ensure project information is stored as per ENMAX document and Record Management processes, and that technical closeout of projects is completed in a timely manner.

Monitor compliance to project schedules for engineering deliverables and document changes through project change notifications.

Work with Project Estimator and Project Manager to ensure estimates accurately reflect the project scope and risks.
Education Required:
- P.Eng or P.L. Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA)
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with exposure to project based work

Experience in the assessment, design, and repair of reinforced concrete structures
-
Working knowledge of CSA S16 (Steel Structures), CSA A23 (Concrete Structures), and the National Building Code – Alberta Edition
-
Familiarity with the electric utility industry is considered an asset
-
Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D is an asset
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to complete field work, including site visits in confined spaces or at heights
Competencies:

Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively deliver on project expectations and communicate with team members.

Strong team player and ability to work independently.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues and multiple project deliverables.

Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel required. Maximo experience is considered an asset.

Be an excellent decision maker with demonstrated sound judgment.

Experience with RISA 3D and RISA Foundation is considered an asset.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
