Primary Function

Reporting to the Youth Hub Program Director. The primary function of the Youth Hub Specialist is to provide specialized support and expertise in developing and delivering programs and services that cater to the needs of youth participants. This part-time role focuses on creating impactful, innovative, and tailored activities that promote personal growth, skill development, and community engagement among young people.

  • Design and implement specialized programs and workshops that cater to the diverse interests and developmental needs of youth participants.
  • Provide individual mentoring and counseling to youth, addressing their personal, educational, and career goals.
  • Develop and adapt curricula to ensure inclusivity, engagement, and effectiveness in achieving developmental outcomes of youth participants.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals, career advisors, and other specialists to integrate comprehensive support services for youth.
  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and innovations in youth development, incorporating them into program planning and execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, community organizations, and stakeholders to support and enhance youth programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of mental health and well-being initiatives tailored for youth.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants, adhering to safety protocols and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Collect and analyze program data, participant feedback, and outcomes to continually improve program quality and effectiveness.
  • Organize community events, outreach activities, and special projects that promote youth leadership and community involvement.
  • Lead marketing and outreach efforts to increase program visibility and engagement within the community.
  • Understand, apply, enforce and adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
  • Action and report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up.
  • Travel between locations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • At least 2 years of experience in youth development, mental health services, career counseling, or a related field.
  • Specialized knowledge or expertise in areas such as mental health, career development, arts and culture, sports and recreation, or technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire young people.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective and engaging programs for youth.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Flexibility to work part-time up to 24 hours/week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of the date of hire.
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, considered an asset.
  • Currenty Mental Health First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
