The Opportunity

The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. The role focuses on ensuring equipment availability and performance through effective maintenance practices and supports continuous improvement initiatives related to plant reliability and operational efficiency.

What You Will Do

Install, align, dismantle, and relocate industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and automated packaging equipment. Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission components. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine work procedures. Operate hoisting and lifting devices (e.g., cranes, jacks) during equipment installation, maintenance, or repair. Fabricate or modify parts using machine tools such as lathes and grinders, as required. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation related to work performed. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support operational continuity. Follow and comply with company and regulatory safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout and confined space procedures.

May include other related duties as required, provided such duties are reasonable and consistent with the employee’s qualifications and role responsibilities.

Required

What You Bring

2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Completion of a recognized Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) apprenticeship program. Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification – Red Seal endorsement (433A). Strong mechanical aptitude to maintain, repair, and align industrial machinery. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues effectively. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and manuals. Solid knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Basic understanding of electrical components such as motors, sensors, and control systems. Ability to perform precision alignment and basic fabrication or modification of parts. Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and preventive maintenance planning. Ability to communicate effectively in English and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Assets

Experience with heavy chain conveyors. Certifications such as Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), TPS, or RCM. Equipment and safety-related certifications or training, including Forklift or Crane Operation, Rigging and Hoisting, Basic Electrical Safety, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and Vibration Analysis / Predictive Maintenance. Safety certifications such as WHMIS, Working at Heights, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and First Aid / CPR. Gas Technician 1 (G.1 certificate) Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment, with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial machinery. The role requires standing, walking, and physical activity, including working with tools and equipment, and may involve repetitive motions. Physical demands may include lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces, as required to perform maintenance and repair activities safely. The position may require shift work, overtime, and on-call availability, based on operational needs. No travel is required for this role.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $44 per hour. Additional premiums may apply, including evening, night, weekend, or other shift premiums where applicable.
