Operations Leader

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team supporting transitional aged youth (aged 18 to 29) with first-time experience of psychosis, chronic schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. As Operations Leader, the successful candidate will be integral in the quality improvement and team leadership of the multi-disciplinary service. Funded by the Slaight Family Foundation, the Recovery and Reintegration Program is a partnership between St. Joseph’s Health Centre (Unity Health) and LAMP Community Health Centre; focused on improving the physical, mental and social well-being of youth in need in the West End of Toronto. Prior experience with program leadership and/or expert knowledge of community mental health services will be considered an asset.

The Program aims to deliver high quality and timely outpatient and community-based interventions to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The Program Lead will require excellent psycho-social assessment skills and the ability to develop and implement client-centered care plans. Group based interventions will be a part of the service and experience with CBT/DBT is required. The program is recovery-focused and the Program Lead will need to initiate and maintain effective community connections to aid the reintegration of clients through employment, schooling and other activities. The Program Lead will also be responsible for managing access and flow through the program to ensure timely access to services for individuals in need, and providing clinical support and mentorship to program staff.

This is a contract position (2 years) and reports to the Manager of Outpatient Mental Health at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Health Related field, i.e. Social Work, Occupational Therapy (OT), Nursing.
  • Registration with regulatory college in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years mental health experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario mental health legislation and DSM V classifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to intervene in an appropriate and safe manner with individuals experiencing an acute mental health crisis.
  • Experience providing brief psychotherapies, supportive counseling, group and family interventions.
  • Commitment to the principles of the Recovery Model and Trauma Informed Care.
  • The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Contribute to program development, including quality improvement.
  • Advanced problem solving skills are required and an ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team setting.
  • Think critically, set prioritizes and organize work in response to client needs.
  • Able to function well under pressure and in a fluid environment.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
  • Satisfactory attendance record.
