Position Description

Seeking a CHIM Professional who is familiar with legislative requirements for release of patient information (PHIPA, Mental Health Act, Public Hospitals Act, etc.).
Processing all requests related to Access and/or Disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI) according to established departmental procedures and applicable provincial statutes and legislation.

Here's What You'll Do

  • Process all requests related to Access and/or Disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI) according to established departmental procedures and applicable provincial statutes and legislation
  • Manage requests to ensure compliance with legislative turnaround times as per the Information Privacy Commissioner (IPC)
  • Prepare invoices and document ROI remittance of fees
  • Act as a resource for internal/external inquiries regarding Access/Disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI)
  • Create MyChart requests in EPIC
  • Monitor and respond to the MyChart phone Support line and email
  • Enter requests in the Epic Release of Information Log
  • Assist with Release of Information email
  • Other Release of Information related services as assigned

Here's What You'll Need

  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
  • Certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) * Must be a member in good standing
  • Working knowledge of provincial regulations related to the access/disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHIPA, Public Hospital's Act, etc.,)
  • Experience with access/disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI) and Chart Corrections preferred
  • Proficiency and knowledge of computer applications (Word and Excel), and Health Care specific applications. Experience with Epic or other integrated health information systems would be an asset
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to show good judgment
  • Understands the importance of fostering a culture of equity, diversity & inclusion
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated
