About the role

Sysco is the global leader in foodservice distribution. With over 71,000 colleagues and a fleet of over 13,000 vehicles, Sysco operates approximately 333 distribution facilities worldwide and serves more than 700,000 customer locations. We offer our colleagues the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, to contribute to the success of a dynamic organization, and to serve others in a manner that exceeds their expectations. We're looking for talented, hard-working individuals to join our team. Come grow with us and let us show you why Sysco is at the heart of food and service. As a Part-time Sysco Selector or as we like to refer them, "Industrial Athlete", you will handle an average of 1,500 cases per shift, with each case weighing around 30 pounds and some weighing up to 70 pounds. The role is highly physical - you'll be walking, standing, stretching, and bending constantly, often covering more than 10 kilometers in a single shift. Because the work is repetitive, the ideal candidate is self-motivated and enjoys challenging themselves. The hours typically appeal to night owls, with shifts usually starting early afternoon and ending early morning. Responsibilities: Hand-select orders within various warehouse environments with fluctuating temperatures, including Dry, Cooler, and Freezer areas. Operate the Sysco Order Selection (SOS) unit to scan and create labels, ensuring labels are correctly placed on products. Stack product on pallets following proper selecting procedures (e.g., no heavy-on-light, labels facing outward). Frequently lift products weighing 1-75 pounds and up to 88 pounds; regularly reach, bend, and twist while operating a pallet jack and/or forklift, including retrieving items from lower shelves. Operate an electric pallet jack or forklift to transport product. Stage pallets for loading at the proper dock locations. Shrink-wrap product on the loading dock. Follow all sanitation requirements and company policies. Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, including pallet jacks, SOS units, and personal protective equipment. Complete pre- and post-trip inspections and safely operate all mechanical equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be 18+ years of age. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English as required for the role and safety regulations. Must pass all pre-employment testing (Background Check, Physical Abilities Test). High school diploma or equivalent. Warehouse experience is an asset, but not required. Hours of Work: Sunday and Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Work most statutory holidays; receive "floater" time off in lieu, which can be booked like vacation. Compensation: Start: $28.08 per hour Year 2: $28.35 per hour Year 3: $29.45 per hour Year 4: $30.55 per hour Year 5: $32.86 per hour Night shift premium (as applicable) Eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses Sysco is committed to Employment Equity. Accommodations during the recruitment process are available upon request for candidates with disabilities. At Sysco, we aspire to create a global culture that is decidedly diverse, equitable, and inclusive - one where we foster belonging as we care for one another and connect the world through food and trusted partnerships. We are Better Together.
