Job Overview
The Strategic Communications Lead will lead the execution of a multi-phase internal program designed to embed the brand promise across the organization. This role will coordinate cross-functional initiatives, manage timelines and deliverables, and develop engagement tactics targeting leaders and employees. Strong writing and storytelling skills are essential to craft clear, compelling communications that bring the brand promise to life. The successful candidate will work on the communications team and partner with HR, and operational teams to drive awareness, adoption and planning for long-term sustainment.
This project is focused on embedding key behaviours which are central to the strategy, into the organization. The role will help drive employee understanding and adoption of these behaviours, ensuring they are lived consistently across teams and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute internal communication strategies that support brand promise integration
- Create engaging content, including articles, speaking notes, videos and presentations for leaders and employees
- Manage project timelines, deliverables and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful program execution
- Advise executives on communication best practices and ensure alignment with corporate strategy
- Develop and maintain a calendar tied to strategic objectives
- Support planning and execution of internal engagement events
- Monitor and assess adoption of strategic initiatives; identify opportunities to improve
- Ensure all materials adhere to confidentiality and corporate standards
- Conduct research and analysis to support strategic initiatives
- Perform other duties as required to support department and company goals
Required Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and with senior leadership
- Analytical thinking and ability to grasp complex concepts quickly
- Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated team player
- Valid Ontario Drivers License is required
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent
- Postgraduate certificate in Communications or related field is an asset
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in internal or corporate communications
- Proven experience developing communication plans tied to organizational strategy or change management initiatives
- Experience writing for executives and developing key messages
This is a hybrid role requiring the contractor to be on site at least 2 days per week in Toronto, ON.
