Location – Mississauga, ON
With Candu Energy Inc. in a dynamic phase of growth and opportunity, the Project Delivery function manages the crucial enterprise-wide responsibility for orchestrating people, processes, and tools to enable scalable, disciplined execution. Serving as the operational backbone of the organization, Project Delivery ensures that delivery standards are upheld, resources are mobilized effectively, and cross-functional collaboration is fostered. This function drives alignment and consistency across a rapidly expanding portfolio of complex initiatives, enabling Candu to maintain strategic advantage, seize emerging opportunities, and uphold quality. By investing in and strengthening this capability, the organization cultivates a culture of accountability, agility, and impact—empowering teams to deliver with precision and purpose in a fast-evolving environment.
We are seeking a Project Resources Director (PRD) within the Project Delivery team. Reporting to the Vice President, Project Delivery, the PRD will be a key leadership resource with primary responsibility for managing junior and intermediate Project Managers across Candu’s growing portfolio. This includes overseeing performance reviews, providing mentorship, and guiding medium- to long-term career development within a matrixed delivery model. The PRD will actively support growth and succession planning, helping to identify and nurture future leadership talent within the project delivery function. A critical aspect of this role involves regular site visits and check-ins with assigned staff at project locations, ensuring strong engagement, visibility, and alignment with delivery expectations. Additionally, the PRD will contribute to defining and refining project-related job descriptions, ensuring that project staff are appropriately slotted into the organization based on capability, role clarity, and strategic fit.
In addition to people leadership, the PRD will be accountable for updating and implementing procedural improvements that enhance delivery consistency and operational efficiency. A critical aspect of this role is maintaining ownership and oversight of Candu’s Project Health Check initiative—a cornerstone of our assurance framework. This initiative plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with functional standards, identifying delivery risks early, and reinforcing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Your role within the team:
- Project Planning & Scope Definition:
- Support development of project plans including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and execution strategies.
- Assist in defining scope and deliverables aligned with contract documents and client expectations.
- Facilitate work breakdown structures (WBS), execution plans, and performance benchmarks to support packaging of work for internal and external execution.
- Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to build and guide multidisciplinary teams across engineering, architecture, construction, and support functions.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and clear communication to ensure project cohesion and success.
- People Management:
- Provide direct leadership to junior and intermediate Project Managers, supporting performance reviews, site engagement, and career development.
- Maintain supervisory structure that fosters growth, accountability, and alignment with strategic delivery goals.
- Partner with functional managers to recruit, train, and develop project personnel.
- Contract & Risk Management:
- Support contract administration including scope control, change management, and subcontractor/vendor coordination.
- Contribute to risk analysis using industry best practices such as Monte Carlo simulations and contingency draw-down curves.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and governance standards.
- Safety & Quality Assurance:
- Champion adherence to safety protocols and quality standards across all project activities.
- Assist in development and implementation of safety programs, training initiatives, and corrective action plans.
- Uphold nuclear and industrial safety compliance.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Guide Project Managers in applying KPIs to assess project health and progress.
- Support robust reporting protocols to meet contract, corporate, and stakeholder oversight requirements.
- Procurement & Supply Chain Management:
- Collaborate on procurement strategies, contract scope, change control, and flow-down requirements.
- Ensure governance and compliance throughout the supply chain, especially in packaging and delegation of work to global partners.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a key liaison between Project Managers and internal/external stakeholders.
- Strengthen relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Ethical & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all project activities comply with corporate ethics, cybersecurity standards, import-export regulations, IP protections, and security clearance protocols.
