EIPS is recruiting a Part-time Junior High Teacher at F.R. Haythorne Junior High. This teaching assignment includes the instruction of the following courses:

  • Musical Theatre
  • Drama
  • English Language Arts
  • GOALS

F.R. Haythorne Junior

High serves approximately 590 students in grades 7 to 9, with 24 teaching staff

and nine support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB. Character education, citizenship and student

leadership are integral to the F.R. Haythorne experience. Staff, administration

and the parent community maintain very high academic and behavioural

expectations for students attending the school, and the school has established

a consistent emphasis on maximizing student achievement.

The GOALS (Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills) Program is a specialized system program designed to meet the needs of students identified with mild cognitive (intellectual) disabilities. The focus of the program is to improve academic and independent living skills within a positive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have experience with differentiated instruction, the ability to modify and adapt materials, and the capacity to deliver small-group instruction across multiple subject areas.
  • Experience in leading a team, and working with classified staff is also preferred.
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Effective organization and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
