About the role

The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) is an independent agency that develops and administers property assessment policy for the province, and provides property appraisal services to over 750 of Saskatchewan’s urban and rural municipalities.

About the Opportunity

As an Appraiser, you’ll play a key role in shaping fair and accurate property assessments for the Weyburn Region. This full-time role offers a unique balance of fieldwork and office-based analysis, giving you the chance to see projects through from first inspection to final valuation.

What You’ll Do

  • Collect property assessment information through physical inspections of residential, commercial and agricultural land;
  • Apply recognized valuation approaches to determine the assessed value of the properties;
  • Input valuation data into the Agency's mass appraisal computer system;
  • Research and respond to enquiries from ratepayers and municipal administration.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who brings both an aptitude for technical knowledge and strong people skills to the role. The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan or other recognized university with a major in Soil Sciences, Agronomy, or Agricultural Economics.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Articling Agrologist or Professional Agrologist with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA).
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment to make sound decisions.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid class five (5) driver’s licence.

Both a cover letter and resume will be used in the screening process. Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in a numeracy, mathematical, and/or computer proficiency assessment to determine position suitability.

For external candidates, employment with the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal record check.
