Job Summary As a Project Release Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials to our production team and coordinating with vendors and suppliers (internal & external) to ensure timely deliveries. You will be responsible for conducting and/or checking material take-offs, requesting quotes, issuing purchase orders, and tracking material orders. Additionally, you will work closely with our drafting team, project managers, site superintendents, installers, and production teams to ensure coordination of material and delivery schedules. Your role will be critical in helping us maintain a robust and efficient supply chain to support our production process.
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Purchasing & production coordination (35%)
- Conduct optimization of material take-offs to generate material orders of aluminum stock length, metal panel sheets, and other SCW system components.
- Request quotes and issue POs to order project materials including glass, aluminum extrusions, metal panels, misc. metals, doors, and coordinate delivery.
- Enter material orders on ERP software.
- Assign tracking numbers and release work orders to production.
- Coordinate material lead times and ensure timely deliveries as per project schedules.
- Work with management to update project schedules, and track project progress.
- Shop drawings, fabrication release, and MTOs (25%)
- Provides a technical review of shop drawings and provides guidance to junior drafting staff.
- Participate in internal reviews for shop drawings.
- Check fabrication releases for accuracy, ensuring that all required info for production is available and correct.
- Create fabrication releases when required.
- Advise on project release breakdown in coordination with drafting, production, site super, and PM.
- Check material take-offs for accuracy, including finishes, quantities, components, sizes, glass make-ups, etc.
- Check site laser scan reports for accuracy, and cross check them against fabrication releases.
- Inventory (20%)
- Enter material quantities received and consumed in M1 ERP.
- Assist in generating monthly material valuation reports.
- Site & shipping coordination (10%)
- Coordinate material and delivery schedule with site super, installers, and production team.
- Coordinate with suppliers shipping project materials directly to project sites.
- Installation troubleshooting (10%)
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues that arises during installation including remakes due to errors, materials damaged on site, revisions requests from site.
Education QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE
- Supply chain management related degree is an asset.
- Project management degree is an asset.
Experience
- Experience working for building envelope products manufacturer (especially Aluminum products) in a similar role (project release/breakdown, material procurement, production planning) is a must.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understanding of stick-built curtain wall shop drawings
- Ability to create and check material take-offs.
- Production scheduling of multiple projects simultaneously.
- The successful candidate will have excellent communication and people skills.
