Dietitian/Nutritionist, Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition
About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Nutrition and Food Services, this role oversees daily operations in both the human milk and formula preparation rooms. Responsibilities include managing staff, coordinating the preparation, storage, and handling of human milk using a computerized tracking system, and ensuring safe and efficient formula preparation.
The Supervisor leads quality improvement initiatives such as inventory control, safety audits, product recalls, and resource development. They collaborate with clinical dietitians, other departments, and the clients we serve to support best practices in patient feeding and care.
This position supports dietetic interns through education and mentorship and plays a vital role in delivering safe, evidence-based nutrition services to vulnerable populations.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, excluding holidays; 8 am - 4 pm
Your Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science (Nutrition) required
• Successful completion of a Dietetic Internship is required
• Registered member of the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists and Dietitians of Canada required
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience required
• Practical experience and education in product and service quality, cost control, human resource issues, and administrative reporting preferred
• Ability to supervise staff in a complex, unionized, multi-site operation
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team-builder and team-player
• Ability to positively influence others in adapting to expanded/ changed roles
• Ability to identify learning opportunities and provide direction and coaching for employees in individual goal attainment
• Organizational skills; ability to focus on a problem/ project/ issue, identify obstacles and facilitators, plan a course of action, and guide/ monitor progress toward a solution
• Excellent computer skills; Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; capable of writing clear, concise reports with recommendations
• Competencies in other languages are an asset
