Position Objective
The Human Resource team at Niagara Health is looking for an engaging and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team. The HRBP will work closely with organizational leadership to ensure people are at the forefront of operational and strategic decisions and to drive a people first culture forward. Reporting to the Director, Culture and HR Advisory Services, the HRBP is responsible for being a hands-on partner to organizational leadership that supports the recruitment and retention of top talent through innovative human resources programs and services that elevate patient care, transformation, and doing work differently. Experience across human resource functional areas will enable you to contribute deeply to a workplace that values diversity and inclusion, process improvement and efficiencies, and results. You will be a strategic advisor to your designated portfolio; will become closely embedded in the leadership teams and build trust and confidence to have honest, focused conversations about performance and results. HRBPs also engage HR subject matter experts as needed and function as a liaison between their portfolio and HR.
Key Responsibilities
- Influences program leaders to maximize employee contribution, advance business priorities, and enhance the organizational culture and overall engagement. Supports the development and execution of people strategies and the NH strategic plan.
- Works closely with program leadership to understand their business drivers, enablers and partner on design of integrated people solutions created to support their business objectives and people requirements
- Analyzes Health Human Resources across the program to identify areas of greatest need through intervention
- Advises and develops strategies on succession planning, career planning, staff development and learning
- Consults with Leaders in the development of performance coaching and development programs, advising on a range of human resources issues and solutions, aligning staff to business objectives, conducting team facilitation sessions.
- Provides leadership, advice and guidance on business planning & organizational issues in support of strategic and operational objectives and people management strategies
- Leads client based strategic HR projects (or the HR portion of a larger operational project) that are complex and/or multifaceted in nature
- Influences client on HR projects while levering HR competency or subject matter expertise
- Facilitates succession planning initiatives for client groups, in partnership with OD
- Provides HR leadership in Client Group organizational change
- Provides insights to the HR specialist areas on the unique needs of client business, work cultures, and operational opportunities/risks in order to support the development, launch, and ongoing maintenance of key HR programs
- Advocates on behalf of the clients and on behalf of HR to facilitate consistency in practice, sound solutions, and a high degree of collaboration between HR and business partners
- Provides research and metric analysis, presentation and recommendations
- Interprets, evaluates, and diagnoses effectiveness and efficiencies, using client group people metrics
- Presents metrics, themes, recommended actions and interventions with leadership teams
- Supports long-term HR strategic planning efforts with clients, using metrics
- Performs ad-hoc analysis to support client's business and HR program delivery
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required
Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary program specializing in Human Resources or Business Administration required
- Additional certifications or diplomas in Human Resource Management is required
- Professional certification in Human Resources, such as the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or equivalent is preferred
- A minimum of 7 years of broad experience in Human Resources within multiple functional HR areas
- Work experience in a multi-unionized setting preferred
- Project management experience and creating project plans
- Demonstrated competence in the following: solutions orientation, performance management and coaching, cultural development and sustainment, influence potential, data literacy and employee engagement strategies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent research skills to identify and recommend changes or improvements to new and existing processes to ensure correct application of legislative, policy and collective agreement entitlements
- Excellent written communication and presentation, skills, with a focus on quality
- Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft Office applications required
- Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
- Flexible, self-directed, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to the purpose, vision and values of NH
- Consistent and regular attendance required
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
