As a Lead Data Scientist, you will lead various initiatives through clever use of data and advanced analytics. You will be responsible for providing significant business value through the creation; maintenance; implementation of analytical models. You will also effectively communicate findings and recommendations to a business audience.

How you will create impact:

  • Lead data science projects with guidance from your manager, including giving direction and training to more junior colleagues as well as reviewing their work.

  • Accountable for the model performance in the specific context of the business problem to solve.

  • Accountable that the outcome of the projects you lead meet the business objectives.

  • Autonomously design data science projects by breaking complex problems or high-level business objectives into smaller problems that can be addressed using data science.

  • Champion the use of a scientific methodology in all projects, tasks, and interactions.

  • Advise on the application of data science techniques on new and existing business problems, utilizing trends in the insurance market.

  • Autonomously make recommendations, and influence your audience towards an outcome, including management.

To join our team:

  • You have 10 years of experience in Data Science or another related field.

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or any other relevant field.

  • Having a Master’s degree and ACAS or FCAS designations are considered an asset.

  • You have strong/excellent knowledge and understanding of: Data analysis, Programing/tools, Modelling techniques, Data warehouse/data management, Research, Architecture/design.

  • You can lead others to solve complex problems; uses analytical thinking, tools, and judgement to identify innovative solutions.

  • You find the best solution to address specific business need, based on industry best practices.

  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
