Position: Part-time Casual

Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre is welcoming a Casual Veterinary Reception, Client Care to join our team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in an important support role for the entire hospital. In this role, you will help our clients and their pets feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated during their visits.

As a member of our client care team, you will be the first point of contact for clients and play an essential role in creating a positive experience for both pets and their families. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced veterinary environment.

Position Details

This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain availability and pick up a minimum of one shift per month to remain active in the role. Additional shifts may be offered based on hospital needs, scheduling availability, and business demands.

Schedule: This position supports the busiest hours of the hospital or help with coverage gaps as needed and may include rotating 11-hour shifts.

As this is a casual position, this role is not eligible for benefits, RRSP matching, uniform allowance, or other full-time/part-time employee perks. For candidates interested in pursuing additional hours, there may be opportunities to transition into a part-time or full-time position should a suitable role become available in the future.

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to tailor your approach to both clients and team members Motivation and a positive attitude, especially when navigating challenging situations Strong attention to detail and a high work ethic A passion for the veterinary industry and providing compassionate care to pet parents Strong change management skills, with the ability to problem solve and adapt to the needs of those around you A coachable attitude with a desire for continued growth and development A strong understanding of client service and interpersonal skills At least 1 year of veterinary office experience or leadership experience in a heavily client-focused role/environment Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) certification is not required, but candidates with this certification will be strongly considered A polite, patient demeanour with the ability to empathize and support clients during emotional situations
