The Opportunity

The Healthcare Human Resources Branch of the Ministry of Health is seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join the Labour Relations unit as a Senior Labour Relations Policy Analyst. Reporting to the Director of Labour Relations, the Senior Policy Analyst will work within the team to support efforts in human resources and labour relations with health sector partners; the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, eHealth Saskatchewan, SAHO, Inc., 3sHealth and other health-care organizations. This will include work on human resource planning and research/development of labour relations and human resource strategies across the sector; creating partnerships with health sector human resources and labour relations partners; and province-wide initiatives, including essential services and human resource policy and practices.

As a Labour Relations Policy Analyst, you will:

  • Participate in provincial forums on labour relations and human resources, and will be responsible for ensuring the Ministry and the health sector meet their obligations relative to the provision of essential health services.
  • Support a variety of health sector agreements with your experience in labour relations legislation and collective bargaining.
  • Develop cohesive, collaborative, and respectful relationships within the Ministry and other key stakeholders, ensuring the achievement of goals and objectives of the position, branch, and Ministry.
  • Resolve complex policy problems, research, analyze, problem-solve and distill complex information.
  • Lead and support the development of Cabinet Decision/Information Items, issue alerts, briefing notes, and other communications items.
  • Demonstrate team leadership with health system partners.

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position would typically have been acquired through completion of a degree in business administration, public policy, public administration, health sciences or social sciences or a related field, supplemented by demonstrated leadership ability, preferably in a government or health sector setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
