What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Associate Director, Shared Data Management Operations (SDMO) this role is a key contributor in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of Finance and Risk data across various finance and risk domains. The incumbent will support and perform the key risk reconciliations and present the results of these reconciliations to various stakeholders. The incumbent will develop and maintain working relationships across the organization including Group Risk Management, Personal & Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, Finance, Internal/External Audit, SOX Office, Wealth Management and other enterprise functions.
All responsibilities carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to Privacy principles.
What will you do?
- Complete and prepare key reconciliations between Finance and Risk data systems across the various data domains within the bank ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of Finance and Risk data.
- Develop and maintain reconciliations to provide assurance to Credit Risk, Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Finance, Capital Measurement and Regulatory Reporting teams regarding the accuracy & completeness of the data in RBC’s reporting and data management systems.
- Provide assurance that the specific and aggregate data values reconcile with authoritative sources and/or systems of record.
- Evaluate any unmitigated risks and control weaknesses, and recommend new or modified reconciliation controls, consistent with the stakeholder’s requirements.
- Maintain and update key processes and documentation for SOX & Audit compliance.
- Act as a business subject matter expert and conducting information gathering sessions to assess, analyze and document reconciliation needs
- Manage detailed business requirements: identifying, tracking and resolving business systems issues.
- Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs while continually exploring and assessing options to centralize, standardize and streamline reconciliation and business processes.
- Undertake new projects and change initiatives including analysis and requirements gathering, defining target results and designing and documenting effective, repeatable processes.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, risk management, data management and/or business analysis.
- Relevant experience with capital market instruments and data, credit risk data, data quality principles, data control design, self-assessment of existing processes and systems.
- Undergraduate degree in a numerical discipline, business administration, finance or a combination.
- Good communications skills, verbal and written.
- Some experience with business and/or technical documentation and the assessment of existing processes and systems.
Nice-to-have
- Self-starter, highly motivated, having a strong drive to achieve tangible results.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in times of stress.
- Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial products, reporting and data related issues.
- Familiarity with financial service regulatory requirements and guidelines (e.g. BCBS239, IFRS 9, Climate risk)
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, Hadoop, Tableau etc.
- Professional Certification (CPA, CFA, FRM and/or other)
